A lot goes in to planning a field trip. These project categories highlight some of the ways that you can include sustainability into your class field trip.

Apples

Meals
Reducing food and packaging waste are elements that can be controlled and measured over the period of your class field trip.

Carbon Offsetting
Your carbon emissions of transportation can be calculated with a simple formula. Native planting can be a team effort on the part of your class and Green Team. Alternatively, you can plant trees through a nonprofit specializing in forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration or agroforestry to help offset the carbon from their trip.

Education
Teachers can choose to take a preventative approach to environmental issues by creating small lessons related to sustainability topics for their students.

Equity
Teachers can collaborate with administration to help connect students to supplies they may need for their field and create free or reduced cost field trips.
